Hybrid Buses
In its ongoing effort to minimize impacts on the environment, the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority began the process of converting its entire bus fleet to hybrid electric technology with the purchase of 15 hybrid electric buses in October, 2007. The use of hybrid electric buses strengthens AATA’s commitment to protecting the environment by burning less fuel and emitting fewer pollutants into the air. AATA continues to purchase hybrid electric buses as older buses reach their 12-year life expectancy. To date, the fleet includes 31 hybrid electrics.
