NightRide / HolidayRide
Late-night shared-ride public transportation in Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area
NightRide is a late-night, shared-ride taxi service organized and funded by the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (TheRide). TheRide contracts with Blue Cab to operate the service. TheRide initiated NightRide in response to the community's need for safe, low-cost transportation late at night.
NightRide complements TheRide’s bus service by providing round-the-clock, public transportation within the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. Trips are even available on major holidays (see Holiday section below).
On January 29, 2012 NightRide was expanded to include the portion of Ypsilanti between Clark/Huron River Drive on the north and Ellsworth/Michigan Avenue on the south, east to Huron Street on the map further below on this page.
How to Ride
Call (734) 528-5432 to request a trip.
All Night Ride trips must be scheduled by phone reservation. Give the dispatcher the following information:
Your name
Your pickup location
Location where you are going
Number of passengers (including any non-paying children)
If you are using a car seat or wheelchair
If you want a call-back when the cab is arriving
NightRide operates much like regular cab service with these important differences:
NightRide is a shared-ride service. The cab may pick up and/or drop off other passengers while you are in the cab.
NightRide cabs normally take 15-40 minutes to arrive to pick up passengers. The average wait is 20 minutes.
It is recommended that you allow at least an hour to complete your trip. The average trip takes about 45 minutes.
You may carry and take with you only what you can hold on your lap, except wheelchairs and walkers.
Service for wheelchair users is provided with a lift-equipped van.
You may stay indoors until the NightRide arrives. However, watch for the vehicle’s arrival. The driver cannot wait more than two minutes for you.
When a cab or van arrives, ask if it is your NightRide.
If you decide not to take NightRide after you have made a reservation, please call (734) 528-5432 and cancel the reservation.
All trips on NightRide must either: have both the origin and destination in Ann Arbor, or
have one end of the trip in Ann Arbor, and the other end in the area east of Ann Arbor shown on the map below.
