Sue Gott to be seated on TheRide’s Board of Directors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Sue Gott, a native Ann Arborite, respected local community planning professional and university planner for the University of Michigan, will take her seat on the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority’s (TheRide) board of directors when it holds its next meeting on April 19.

Gott was appointed by Ann Arbor Mayor John Hieftje with the support of the Ann Arbor City Council in late February to replace Rich Robben.

She has served as the university planner since September, 2002 and is highly regarded for her focus on integrated planning, environmental stewardship, alternative transportation and advocacy for public art, and for her efforts to promote historic preservation.

Commenting on Gott’s appointment to the board, TheRide Board Chair Jesse Bernstein said, "I am excited for Sue to join the AATA Board. Her knowledge of the community, her expertise in planning, and her role at the University of Michigan makes her an exceptional addition to our group. She brings the ability to clearly analyze situations and find collaborative solutions."

As university planner, Gott is responsible for guiding master planning and development of the university campuses, overseeing planning of major projects such as buildings, parking structures, utilities, roads, open spaces and plazas.

She also provides an important link with the City of Ann Arbor and other community partners to coordinate university projects with other local planning initiatives.

Of her appointment, Gott said, “I am happy to volunteer my time and to offer my professional perspective on community transportation.”

She is a 1982 graduate of the University of Michigan.
