Status of Proposed AATA Service Changes for August, 2008
The public comment period for the proposed service changes ended Monday, April 21, 2008. We will still accept comments on the proposed changes by email, mail, or phone as described below. However, we may not be able to fully consider them before making recommendations.
AATA staff is compiling the comments and suggestions that were received, and making revisions to the proposed changes based on the public input. The revised proposal will be posted on the AATA website about May 1, 2008.
AATA staff will submit the revised proposed service changes to the Policy and Operations (P&O) Committee of the AATA Board of Directors for their consideration. The P&O Committee will consider the proposed changes at their meeting from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the AATA offices, 2700 S. Industrial Hwy., Ann Arbor. All P&O Committee meetings are open to the public, but no public comment period is normally included in the agenda.
The full AATA Board of Directors is scheduled to take action to adopt service changes at their meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at the AATA offices at the address above. Public comment periods are included in the agenda near the beginning and end of the meeting.

Following are the proposed service changes as originally proposed:
Route 1U - Pontiac-University

Time would be added to this route to improve on-time performance. On trips to downtown Ann Arbor, the route would turn from Pontiac Trail onto Barton, Plymouth and Maiden Lane, to supplement Route 2. The final evening trip would be eliminated.
Route 3 - Huron River

Evening service would be eliminated. Evening service on the route currently operates only between the Blake Transit Center and Huron High School and only from September through April.
Route 4 – Washtenaw

A number of changes are proposed for Route 4-Washtenaw to improve the reliability and frequency of the route in Ann Arbor without adding to rider’s travel time or adding a large number of additional service hours.
Morning peak-period proposed changes:
- Buses from Arborland to U-M Medical Center would operate year-round
- Buses from Ann Arbor to Ypsilanti would not serve the bus stop on East
Medical Center Drive. An alternate stop on Observatory would be served.
Afternoon peak-period proposed changes:
- Buses from UM Medical Center to Arborland would:
~Operate year-round
~Operate in service in both directions
~Serve the bus stop at Ann & Zina Pitcher
~Operate with one additional bus (3 total)
~Have time added to the scheduled time to improve on-time performance
- Buses from Ypsilanti to Ann Arbor would not serve the bus stop on East
Medical Center Drive. An alternate stop on Observatory would be served.
- Buses which leave Ypsilanti at :15 and :45 minutes after the hour going to
Ann Arbor would not pull into Arborland, but would serve a new stop on
Washtenaw Avenue.
- Buses leaving downtown Ann Arbor at :18 and :48 after the hour going to Yp-
silanti would not serve the bus stop on East Medical Center Drive. An
alternate stop on Observatory would be served.
- Buses now leaving downtown Ann Arbor at :03 and :33 would leave at :00
and :30.
Changes for trips from Ann Arbor to Ypsilanti at all times:
- No buses to Ypsilanti would pull into Manchester Road. All buses would
serve the bus stop on Washtenaw west of Manchester.
- All buses would turn right from Observatory onto Geddes and left on Geddes
to Washtenaw. This will provide for a new bus stop on Washtenaw south of
Geddes with a passenger shelter. The stop would replace the existing stop
on Washtenaw north of South University Street.
Route 5 - Packard

The 10:00 p.m. trip leaving the Ypsilanti Transit Center would be eliminated.
Route 7 - South Main-East

The 10:18 p.m. trip leaving the Blake Transit Center would end at Pioneer
High School.
The loop now serving Kerrytown would be eliminated.
A trip from the Blake Transit Center to the Pioneer High Park & Ride Lot
would be added at 10:45 p.m.
Route 8 - Pauline
Frequency of weekday service would be increased to every 15 minutes to replace 12UL service in the Pauline/South Maple/Liberty triangle.
Route 9U - Jackson-University

The route would be moved away from Maple Village to the Miller Road Park & Ride Lot.
Route 12B - Liberty-Miller

Weekday trips would serve the Miller Road Park & Ride Lot in the evening on an on-demand basis.
Route 12UL - Liberty-University

The route would be eliminated and replaced with more frequent service on Route 8.

Peak Hour Service
Service to and from the Miller Road Park & Ride Lot would be increased to every 20 minutes, with trips in the peak direction to operate with limited stops. Service to the new Skyline High School would be added.
Midday Service
Service would operate every 30 minutes between the Miller Road Park & Ride Lot/Skyline High School and the Blake Transit Center, resulting in service every 15 minutes on Miller Road.
Route 13 - Newport

Route 14 - Geddes-East Stadium

Evening service would be eliminated from May through August. Sunday service would be eliminated.
Route 16 - Ann Arbor-Saline Road

Service would be eliminated on Eisenhower/Northbrook and east of Lohr Road.
